The White House has announced that US President Joe Biden will host leaders from across Africa for the Second US-Africa Leaders Summit next year.
According to a statement by The White House made on 19 November 2021, President Joe Biden will host a major summit with leaders from across the African continent next year.
βThis Summit will continue efforts to strengthen ties with African partners based on principles of mutual respect and shared interests and values. It will also serve as an opportunity to listen to and collaborate with African counterparts on key areas the United States and Africa define as critical for the future of the continent and our global community,β The White House stated in its communication, adding that more details will follow in due course.
The announcement was made on the back of the US Secretary of State, Anthony J. Blinken, concluding his trip to Africa where he visited with leaders from Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal to discuss a number of shared priorities and areas of cooperation.
βI do not see the countries and peoples of Africa as a world apart; I see Africa as a fundamental part of our interconnected world β partners with America on behalf of the future we want for all of our children. That partnership must be grounded in mutual responsibility and mutual respect.β
