In a notable stride towards sustainable hospitality, the ANEW Hotels & Resorts group has proudly unveiled two new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations each, strategically placed outside both ANEW Hotel Centurion Pretoria and ANEW Hotel Roodepoort Johannesburg.
Says Henry Swartz, ANEWs Group Facilities & Risk Manager, who initiated this project, “The decision to introduce these charging stations were inspired by the growing popularity of electric vehicles and the increasing need for convenient charging infrastructure across the country. ANEW wants to cater to the environmentally conscious travellers and the evolving technological needs of our guests.”
“ANEW wants to cater to the environmentally conscious travellers and the evolving technological needs of our guests.”
He continues, “We have partnered with Mercedes-Benz & Chargify to roll out a vast amount of branded EV chargers across the country, and we are very excited to further expand the footprint of EV charging stations at our properties going forward.”
Conveniently located outside each ANEW property — ANEW Hotel Centurion in the guest parking lot and ANEW Hotel Roodepoort within the business complex — the electric vehicle charging points aim to elevate guest experiences while championing technological enhancement and innovation.
Seeking more sustainable solutions
The introduction of EV charging infrastructure brings significant environmental benefits. By offering EV charging points to guests, the ANEW properties actively contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution by traditional gasoline powered vehicles, thereby promoting improved air quality and public health. This initiative aligns with a broader shift toward low-emission transportation, as travellers increasingly seek sustainable options.
To enhance the user experience advanced features have been incorporated into the charging stations. These units are equipped with versatile charging options, ranging from 22kW AC to Dual 22kW AC, 30kW DC, 180kW DC, and 22kW AC. This comprehensive array of charging capabilities ensures compatibility with various electric vehicle sockets in South Africa.
Additional electric vehicle (EV) chargers are anticipated to be deployed strategically across the national footprint of the group soon.
