Speakers hailing from six different countries – among them the USA, UK, Singapore, Netherlands, Canada, and South Africa – will take centre stage at this year’s Professional Speakers Association of Southern Africa’s Annual Convention 2024 (#PSASA2024). Set to take place at The Capital on the Park in Sandton, South Africa, from 19 to 21 April 2024, this gathering will delve into pivotal topics shaping the success of events.
Over the course of three days, the convention will address pressing issues influencing event planning and execution. Among these is the heightened demand from audiences, who, amid a sea of online content and networking opportunities, have become more discerning about the events they choose to attend.
Says Juanita Vorster, professional speaker and organiser of #PSASA2024:
“It is crucial for event professionals, including speakers to deepen their understanding of crafting events that prioritise audience well-being. This year’s programme reflects this imperative, featuring discussions on topics such as addressing shortened attention spans, fostering psychological safety, accommodating diverse learning styles, and striking a balance between creativity and productivity.”
Furthermore, the convention will explore subjects including diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), sales strategies, financial management and contracts tailored for gig workers, stagecraft as well as the evolving landscape of speaking professionals within the events industry.
Vorster underscores the pivotal role speakers play in shaping attendees’ experiences and stresses the importance of a compelling speaker line-up in driving conference attendance.
“Speakers must possess not only technical speechcraft but also the ability to adapt to client requirements and audience dynamics,” Vorster carries on.
The PSASA convention stands as an invaluable platform for anyone seeking to inform, influence, and inspire audiences of any scale, offering an opportunity to refine and broaden their skill-set. It’s clear that this event is not exclusive to professional speakers alone – it welcomes all who seek to excel in engaging and captivating audiences.
