…As EIBTM global buyers recognise business potential of growing economy. Research conducted by Reed Travel Exhibitions following the last edition of the global event for the meetings and events industry has highlighted that more than 1,320 Hosted Buyers who attended EIBTM 2012 (www.eibtm.com), and were responsible for organising meetings, specified a direct interest in placing business in Africa.
These findings are supported by the Africa Economic Outlook which has released figures demonstrating that Africa’s economy is projected to grow by 4.8% in 2013, and increase a further 5.3% in 2014, highlighting Africa as an increasingly attractive region for the meetings and events industry.
“Exhibiting at EIBTM gives organisations from Africa the opportunity to showcase their products and services to a network of over 15,000 meetings industry professionals and over 4,200 Hosted Buyers, all of whom have proven international purchasing power. This provides a platform to increase awareness of their brand on the global stage, whilst building relationships and generating new sales leads with Hosted Buyers who have an interest in placing business in the region,” said Danielle Keogh, Head of Sales, Meetings and Events Portfolio, Reed Travel Exhibitions.
EIBTM 2012 welcomed 161 exhibiting companies from Africa at the show. Suppliers included hotels and venues, national convention bureaux, destination management companies, destinations, and professional conference organisers.
Joyce Wangui, Serena Hotels & Lodges, an Exhibiting Partner on the Kenya Tourist Board stand at EIBTM 2012 commented, “We have had seven solid business leads on the stand as well as some new great contacts and introductions. We have had an enquiry for an incentive group of 400 for a five night safari in Kenya. This is more than just a good show, it’s brilliant.”
EIBTM 2013 will take place from 19th – 21st November, a week earlier than in previous years. The EIBTM Forum will take place the day before the exhibition on 18th November.
