The City Lodge Hotel Group (CLHG) has a series of refurbishments in progress to refresh and modernise its properties. Courtyard Hotel Sandton and five Road Lodges around the country are currently being given a makeover.
The Road Lodge Umhlanga Ridge is undergoing a softs refurbishment, with new carpets in the passages and vinyl flooring in the bedrooms. Furniture in the 125 bedrooms is being replaced with a more contemporary look of natural timber and white accent colour. The bedroom walls have been repainted with new accent colours and new contextual artwork has been installed. Television sets have been upgraded and centred inside the rooms. Planned completion is 16 August 2019.
The 90-room Road Lodge East London, 118-room Road Lodge Southgate, 95-room Road Lodge Mbombela and 92-room Road Lodge Randburg are also undergoing softs refurbishment, with new carpets in the passages and vinyl flooring in the bedrooms. Curtains and bedding are being replaced with new fabrics in shades of blues, greens or greys and the rooms will receive new artwork in colours to match the interiors. Road Lodge Mbombela will be completed on 4 August, Road Lodges in East London and Southgate have planned completion dates of 25 August, and Road Lodge Randburg is already sporting its new and improved look. The 92-room Road Lodge Rivonia will begin its soft refurb on 1 September 2019, with completion set for 12 November 2019.
The 69-room Courtyard Hotel Sandton is beginning a refurbishment programme soon, during which the Club Lounge situated in the commercial area will receive new vinyl flooring, lounge chairs, rugs, lighting, artwork and fixtures and fittings. A new central drinks bar and food serving area will be created and a new stacking door installed, opening the space towards the outside patio.
“Keeping properties fresh, modern and in line with guests’ needs is our ongoing focus,” says Andrew Widegger, CEO of CLHG.
