ABTA hosts business travel training in Lagos | The Planner

The African Business Travel Association (ABTA) recently gave a guest lecture training session for students at the Alfa First Travel and Tourism Training Academy in Lagos, Nigeria.

The students – who are currently finalising their IATA exam preparation – enjoyed a 2 hour interactive education session which gave them insights into the business travel industry and how it operates, the importance of the various sectors and how they interact with one another, the key trends driving business travel both globally and in Africa, and how a well-skilled business travel workforce supports commerce and industry.

“As ABTA continues to place a strong focus on education and knowledge transfer, especially with the youth who will be the leaders of our industry in coming years, having this opportunity to engage with these students and shed some light on the real life practicalities within the business travel industry was a fantastic experience.  ABTA has hosted similar sessions for other tertiary institutions over the past year and we are committed to regularly volunteering our time to engage with travel industry students across Africa.” Said Monique Swart, ABTA Founder.

“Having visitors from ABTA coming to our Academy and volunteering their time with our students was a great pleasure,” said Soji Amusan, CEO of Alfa First Travel and Tourism Academy.  “Our students really enjoyed this time spent getting excellent information about the in’s and out’s of the business travel industry and this has given them a real boost as they prepare to write their final IATA exams later this month.”

In order to continue playing an active role in assisting these students, ABTA presented all in attendance with a complimentary ABTA Membership which, says Swart, will give them continued access to learning and research materials as they expand their horizons and start pursuing career opportunities within the business travel industry in the coming months.
