The MICE Academy’s Helen Brewer announcing Raymond van der Berg’s CPD MICE achievement while Peter Schoeman Director Sales & Marketing for City Lodge & Fedhasa’s Large Hotel Group representative on SATSA Exco congratulates Raymond on his achievement.

Since 2008 Raymond van der Berg has been with the South African Institute of Mining & Metallurgy (SAIMM).  In 2012 Raymond was appointed as Head of Conferences.

At the inaugural CPD Awards which tests an event practitioner’s knowledge, Raymond van der Berg is indeed a credit to the industry he represents and comfortably achieved the required accumulated amount of credits in a specific period of time.

The SAIMM has a busy annual events schedule hence it is no small achievement that Raymond has taken the time to keep himself up-to-date with the latest event management information and techniques and be tested accordingly.

The Academy are delighted that such a prominent institute such as the SAIMM has the calibre of personnel such as Raymond van der Berg who believes that continuing professional development (CPD) is essential for all event practitioners irrespective of their knowledge and abilities.

The Academy asked Raymond to comment on the CPD MICE (Meetings Incentives Conferences Exhibitions) Programme: ‘The pre-test material is of a high quality and written by knowledgeable individuals thus not only enhancing the knowledge of the person within the events management career but also anyone that picks up the article and reads the article. The online programme is an easy system to use and provides for simple interaction between the user and the system. The tests allow for the event practitioner to not only test their knowledge but also for deeper thought and retrospection on the subject thus encouraging growth within the subject field. The online programme is of great educational value. As a key indicator within our current field is of great importance I find this programme essential to our career professionals. Overall the programme is of a high standard and a great help to keep me abreast of the new developments within the events industry sector. I look forward to the next series of articles and thus keeping “the saw” sharp.’

The online CPD MICE programme has many benefits.

The main ones being:

  1. confidentiality
  2. availability 24/7
  3. aligned to the NQF
  4. outcomes-based
  5. verified certification
