The recently completed Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City will open in the next few weeks, making it the 63rd hotel in the City Lodge Hotel Group (CLHG) and 56th in South Africa. What sets it apart from other CLHG properties is its positioning โto appeal to the more discerning traveller of all agesโ, says Chief operating officer Lindiwe Sangweni-Siddo.
It is in the process of obtaining its four-star Green Building Council SA certification.
In addition, the hotel is upping its โgreenโ standard. This includes having robust energy and water efficient systems in place. The property has also installed intelligent metering systems and software. These will consolidate and share water and energy usage data in real-time, helping the staff monitor and improve performance over time.
Courtyard Hotel Waterfall City is situated in the growing Waterfall City hub in Midrand, within walking distance of the Mall of Africa and in close proximity to the Gautrain bus service and a secure bicycle parking facility. The Sandton and Midrand CBDs are nearby, as is the Gautrain Midrand Station, Gallagher Convention Centre, Kyalami International Convention Centre and Netcare Waterfall City Hospital.

The hotel will initially open its commercial areas, 84 bedrooms and four suites. The remaining floors and 80 rooms will open in phases, based on demand and the effect of the lockdown in the coming months. The full opening can happen within six to eight weeks.
World class health and hygiene protocols are in place, which have been awarded the World Travel & Tourism Council Safe Travels accreditation.
The hotel is headed up by opening general manager Brendan Luttig, who previously managed City Lodge Hotel Fourways, and the kitchens are led by new executive chef Keegan Maistry, whose luxury hotel experience spans both South Africa and the US.
