As the world prepares for the 2021 G20 Summit to be hosted in Rome on 30 & 31 October, CNBC Africa brings you a live panel discussion and webinar on the topic: Global public health infrastructure transformation: Dealing with COVID-19, AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. A panel of African leaders will consider whether it is necessary to redesign the global public health architecture to meet the needs of the 21st century.
Points of discussion to be raised include: the lessons Africa can bring to combat COVID-19 in the light of its experience from previous pandemics; the likelihood of eradicating the COVID-19 virus; and the not-so-obvious consequences of the pandemic. Global cooperation is essential to address the issues around the additional pressure exerted by COVID-19 on Africa’s greatest killers – AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
What will be needed to deal with these diseases – from funding, to information and data sharing, from patent waivers on vaccines to access to genomic sequencing technologies.
