Leadership conversations for the workplace | The Planner

We hear from two experts within leadership as to how we can better align our leadership strategies within the workplace for the now.

On 19 May 2022, Queen Ramotsehoa together with 3S Media hosted a panel discussion centred on leadership within the workplace. Joining Queen, who is the founder of the Tsheto Leadership and Coaching Academy, was Llewellyn Devereaux – an author, speaker, and the founder of The Genie Group. The thrust throughout the discussion was that “leadership is a conscious decision”.

Having just turned 34, Llewellyn shared his views on how individuals who are part of a younger workforce can achieve success. He also revealed his drive and reasoning for wanting to be part of conversations that add to the conscious leadership discussion.

“Everything I do relates to purpose. There is a calling I have regarding South Africa and the continent. Regardless of the land mass of it all, it’s built by people, so I care about micro that contributes to the macro, and it is really about having the conversations that conscientise us and see greater perspective,” says Llewellyn.

During the session, Queen noted that our leadership strategies should not be focused on profitability but on responsibility.

“When we talk about corporate citizens, I hope we are not pointing our fingers to those who we feel should be active. We should be asking ourselves the question, ‘as a corporate citizen and as a conscious citizen, what is my responsibility’?”
