The single biggest factor influencing venue choice | The Planner

The venue choice plays a significant role in any event’s success; so how do event planners choose the ‘right’ venue?

There are a lot of factors that need to be considered, but interestingly a study by the International Live Events Association (ILEA) identified that the biggest influencing factor in making the final decision is meeting room information.

Presumably factors such as cost, third party recommendations, previous events held at the venue, and the tech support and other amenities play a role in the initial venue selection. But it is still surprising that the meeting room information can often decide which venue is ultimately chosen.

Of course, ILEA is international and their study might not be a true indication of our local market. But it does still suggest that venues should pay special attention to ensuring that this information is readily available, up-to-date and easy to understand in terms of what possibilities your meeting space offers.
