&Beyond is proud to announce the reopening of &Beyond Ngala Tented Camp situated in the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Rebuilt and freshly refurbished, the camps six sophisticated safari tents celebrate the romance of canvas in natural bush surroundings. Each luxurious tented suite features outdoor showers, deep baths and private wooden decks overlooking the seasonal Timbavati riverbed. Peaceful and tranquil, the camps intimate new layout ensures that the tents are now more secluded from each other.
Combining &Beyonds trademark brand of warm local hospitality, the camps stylish new interiors are a fusion between easy living and contemporary design. The overall essence is undeniably African, with warm, earthy tones used throughout.
We wanted to incorporate elements that draw on the beautiful bushveld landscape and grasslands, as well as the Shangaan culture prevalent in this region, says &Beyond Interior Designer, Nicole Merlo. This is reflected not only in the use of raw, organic materials, but also in the shapes and designs of the furniture, lighting and window and floor treatments. Interior pantones simulate the colours in the materials and the landscape.
Constructed with a light footprint, each tent sits on a raised platform and was cleverly designed to incorporate existing trees, minimising environmental impact and reflecting &Beyonds ethos of sustainable luxury. The floors and roofs of the tented suites are made of double-lined canvas with insulation in the middle, thereby reducing the electricity required to heat and cool the tent. All lights are LED and air conditioners are energy efficient.
The camp is one of two accommodation options at &Beyond Ngala Private Game Reserve, the first private reserve to be incorporated into the Kruger and part of one of Africas most innovative conservation partnership agreements. Ngalas annual lease fee paid to the South African National Parks Trust is used to help fund conservation projects throughout the country, including the development of the Mountain Zebra National Park.
