NH The Lord Charles Hotel to host international conference | The Planner

Somerset West and the local winelands and coastal regions are set to benefit from an international pharmaceutical conference to be held at the iconic NH The Lord Charles Hotel, just 20 minutes from Cape Town International Airport, from 10-11 July 2014.

The International Symposium on Methods for Studying Drug Metabolism and Transport and Herbal Derived Medicines (Methods 2014) will be organised by African Agenda, a leading professional conference organiser that specialises in planning and hosting national and international conferences.

Professor Andrew Walubo from the Department of Pharmacology at the University of the Free State is the Chair of the Local Organising Committee for the conference. He commented on the significance of the prestigious event for the South African scientific community. “This will be an exciting gathering of like-minded professionals in a collegial, dynamic environment as we explore the conference theme of “rallying for safe and effective medicines”.

The conference is an official satellite event of the 17th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (WCP2014), to be held in Cape Town from 13-18 July 2014. Both events are set to bring a boost in tourism to the Western Cape as delegates make use of their free time to explore the local winelands and surrounding coastal regions.

The winter timing of the conference is particularly attractive to the Western Cape’s tourism industry as it’s a traditional “quiet time” on the seasonal calendar.
