44 Stanley44 STANLEY AVENUE TO CONSTITUTION HILL

Enjoy fantastic coffee at Bean There coffee before we hop on the Rea Vaya bus to Constitution Hill where we visit South Africa’s most astonishing architectural gem – the Constitutional Court. We also tour the historic prison museums (No 4 Prison, Women’s Jail and the Old Fort. Many famous political prisoners spent time here, including Gandhi and Mandela. To add even more meaning to the spiritual journey of this tour, we also visit the neighbouring Children’s Memorial Institute – home to over 20 Joburg-related children’s charities. We travel back to 44 Stanley Avenue by Rea Vaya bus for a scrumptious lunch at Salvation Café.

Maboneng-PrecinctNEWTOWN TO MABONENG
Sunday 19 January, 9:00 – 15:00

This has become JoburgPlaces’ most popular tour. We start by exploring Newtown – the arts and culture hub of the city and walk through the corporate mining district to Gandhi Square. The tour includes the stories of Gandhi and Mandela. We visit the Shadow Boxer sculpture of Mandela in front of the original Mandela & Tambo law offices as well as the Gandhi sculpture in the centre of town. We also visit the Carlton Centre’s Top of Africa observation floor and enjoy sparkling wine in a nearby city penthouse. Next up is a Rea Vaya bus ride to Maboneng’s Market-on- Main. A fantastic and leisurely Sunday in the city!

PUBS, BARS & ROOFTOPS TOUR
