The Arabella Golf Course in Kleinmond has once again been named as one of South Africa’s Top 5 courses and number 1 in the Western Cape in Golf Digest’s biennial and much anticipated list of the country’s best golf courses.
The golf course is part of the 5-star Arabella Hotel & Spa (which forms part of the luxury African Pride Hotels collection) and has just undergone a R10 million upgrade that includes a redesign of seven holes, and the installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system.
Arabella’s 18-hole, par 72 championship golf course has continuously been ranked in South Africa’s top 5 and was built and designed by top golf course architect Peter Matkovich.
Golf Director Jonathan Menteath says the award means a lot in light of the hard work that’s gone into the course upgrade in the past year.
“We’ve worked tremendously hard, but it’s worth it when players come off the course talking about having had one of their best golf experiences ever.
“Arabella attracts golfers from across the globe and they expect a world-class course, which they get when they play here.”
Danny Bryer, Director of Sales, Marketing and Revenue for African Pride Hotels, says: “Many celebrities and professional golfers have had the pleasure of spending time in this pristine natural area, appreciating not only the birds and wildlife but also the perfect fairways, challenging greens, bunkers and water hazards.
”We know they and the thousands of local and international players who have played Arabella previously will be back to enjoy the challenging new holes of this course that has rightfully been named the 5th best course in South Africa and number 1 in the Western Cape.”
The Hospitality Property Fund (HPF) owns the hotel and golf course. The investment in the course upgrade and at the hotel demonstrates the company’s commitment to maintaining world class standards across the property and its commitment to the economic prosperity of the Kleinmond region.
The golf course and 5-star hotel, surrounded by the Kogelberg biosphere reserve and Bot River Lagoon, make for a challenging round of golf and the perfect place to unwind off the course, alongside the pool or in the award-winning spa.
It is located just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town.
