LARRY PULLEN
Larry started his musical career studying jazz at Pretoria Technikon where he obtained a National Diploma in Contemporary Music on guitar. He then moved to the technical side of the industry, doing live sound for various recording artists – he was the touring engineer for Not My Dog and the resident sound engineer for the Springbok Nude Girls.
After the Springbok Nude Girls called it quits, Larry started working predominantly in the Afrikaans music industry. He toured with Nianell for six years and later become the resident engineer for Nataniël. A position he has held for nine years. During this time he has worked on Nataniël annual performance at Emperors Palace as well as the show, Nataniël and Friends Live at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
Larry began his studio experience working with Not My Dog at Wolmer Records around 1998. He co-produced four of their studio albums. One was awarded a SAMA (South African Music Award) for Best Rock Album 2003. Larry then continued his studio experience at David Gresham Records where he produced Hello Crazy World, the debut album of Prime Circle.
With the various successes Larry experienced, he knew he had to take the next step in his career and he launched CUE-SONIC Music and Sound Design. From its humble beginnings as a project studio, Larry has developed the studio to a first-class competitive facility known for its quality in mixes and production.
Larry has recorded and mixed the last two releases from Nataniël entitled Nataniël Cathedral: Live @ Emperors Palace, which was nominated for Best DVD SAMA 2011; and Nataniël Combat, which was released at Ster-Kinekor Cinema Nouveau in 2012. This film was nominated for best sound design at the 2012 Naledi Theatre Awards.
Other award winning work that Larry has worked on include: Wouter Kellerman’s Live DVD ‘Kellerman Colour Live’ which won the 2010 SAMA for ‘Best Jazz/Instrumental/Popular Classical DVD’.
As you can see, Larry is multi-talented: he is a brilliant guitarist, producer and one of the top sound engineers in South Africa.
CASSANDRA DE BEER
Cassandra has been performing professionally since February 2011. She was a front-liner in three of the Barnyard Theatre’s main shows: Nitefever, The Final Countdown and The 7 Wonders, where she portrayed the role of Christina Aguilera.
Cassandra has been trained in most genres of music such as jazz, pop, gospel, RnB and country. Her teachers include Fanie Fouche, RJ Benjamin, Chantelle Schutee (van der Westhuizen), Paul Ferreira and Louise Senekal. She left the Barnyard at the end of 2012 and has been working with Cue-Sonic’s owner, sound engineer and guitarist Larry Pullen in the band, Montreux Calling.
CESARE CASSARINO
Cesare graduated from the Tshwane University of Technology in 1997, where he studied bass guitar. Performance credits include: Steve Hofmeyr, Dozi, Gang of Instrumentals, Valiant Swart, Riku Latti, Loyiso, Judith Sephuma, Anton Goosen, Piet Botha/Jack Hammer (ZZ Top tour 1996), Marcus Wyatt, Jonathan Crossley, Edith Klug, Jazz Company, Jazz Assassins and New Academics, among others. He is also the protagonist of John Barker’s music industry spoof Blu Cheez. Cesare and his bass also featured in the Kyknet series Song Vir Katryn.
GODFREY MGACINA
Godfrey started playing drums in 1971 while still at school in Soweto. His first big gig was with Shirley Brown and Clarence Carter. He recorded the Clarence live in Johannesburg album.
He worked as percussionist with international artist such as Toto, Erika Badu, Snoop Dog and Peter White.
Locally he worked as a drummer with Jonas Gwangwa, Gloria Bosman and Hugh Masekela. He did a live DVD with Caiphus, Letta Mbulu and Ringo Madlingozi.
