Fancourt has announced the appointment of Georgie Davidson, as chief executive officer from July 2014. She is taking over the reins from Kerrin Titmas, who is moving on after five-and-a-half years to pursue new challenges.
Davidson has carved an impressive career in the hospitality and tourism industries spanning some 20 years. She joined Fancourt in September 2013 as food and beverage manager, and five months later, was promoted to resort manager, before her latest appointment as chief executive officer.
Originally from Zimbabwe, she launched her career in the hospitality industry at the Three Cities Hotel Group’s Royal Hotel in 1990, after completing her diploma in hotel management at the Witwatersrand Technikon in Gauteng.
She swiftly climbed the career ladder, first working as assistant executive housekeeper at the Royal Hotel before transferring to the Sodwana Bay Lodge in KwaZulu-Natal to take up the position of resort administrator. This was followed by a stint as food and beverage manager at the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge in Zimbabwe. With additional experience gained as a conference manager, and general manager for Tourvest – one of South Africa’s top travel services companies, and as regional director of luxury travel group Abercrombie and Kent, as well as a spell as specialist consultant to the tourism and hospitality industry, she brings a wealth of experience and invaluable insight to her position of chief executive officer at Fancourt.
