For the second year running, the who’s who of media, entertainment, sport and commerce will converge on the Western Cape’s best conditioned golf course, Pearl Valley Golf and Country Estate, to play for children in dire need of pediatric healthcare at the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
“We hope to raise a total of R100,000 for the fundraising arm of the hospital – The Children’s Hospital Trust – as its their 20th year of funding vital paediatric healthcare needs like equipment, training and buildings, not only for the hospital, but for the Western Cape government’s Department of Health,” says Gawie Marx, gm of Pearl Valley.
In 2013, the golfing benefit raised R50,000 for another notable NGO, The Sunflower Fund, which finances bone marrow stem-cell related treatment or life-threatening blood disorders. The cause held special significance for the Estate, as Gawie Marx is a leukaemia survivor himself.
Sponsorship opportunities exist for businesses wanting to get involved. Holes 3, 6, 13 and 17 (including tee and green) cost R2,000 and the remaining holes (including tee and green) cost R1 000. To sponsor and brand the driving range and putting green costs R5,000. To sponsor and brand the halfway house or act as a title sponsor, the costs are R5,000 or R20,000 respectively. Additionally, corporates are invited to donate any prizes they wish, provided they cater for a four-ball alliance.
The annual Pearl Valley Celebrity Charity Golf Day takes place on 23 September 2014, with a starting time of 12h30pm and an opening of 32 four balls at a price of R4 000 per four ball or for an extra R1 000, your own branding of a hole.
