“MICE venues often confuse their site inspections between the venue’s features and the venue’s benefits’ commented a seasoned association event practitioner.
The difference between highlighting features rather than selling the benefits invariably culminates in a lost booking. It is only recently that group business venue management – with or without accommodation – have realised that what is required by the travel trade – in all it’s various guises – is not what the client seeking a group business venue needs to be sold on.
According to Webster’s dictionary a feature is the appearance or a notable characteristic part of a structure. Whereas a benefit is a distinct advantage inherent within that which is being promoted and ultimately sold.
In the lower capacity venues in particular – 300 or less – where there is keen to fierce competition, it is the benefits which will be the difference between a confirmed booking or not.
The Site Inspection Breakfast Briefings for venue management on Friday 8 August will guide participants through this most important aspect for increasing the bookings schedule as well as assist in creating a variety of possible benefits that could be implemented back-at-the-office.
Included with Breakfast Briefings is the opportunity to gain 3 credits by undertaking a confidential, simple Q&A test which proves conclusively a participant’s increased knowledge on this important topic. Look out for the red CPD symbol at the bottom of the Academy’s website www.miceacademy.co.za for the programme details.
Registrations are open and bookings can be made by contacting Cardinal Leisure the initiators of the Site Inspection topic. Contact Viviene Kloeck on 011 478 2420 | F: +27 (0)11 478 2421 I C: 082 601 4455 viv@clsa.co.za | http://www.clsa.co.za
