Four Hilton Sandton team members represented Hilton Sandton and South Africa at the Hilton Worldwide Food Beverage (F&B) Masters contest for the hotel groups’ Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) region. Team Hilton Sandton placed second out of 300.
The contest pushes team members from all over the region to be innovative and stretch their creativity and technical skills. They undergo a series of challenges showcasing their culinary flair and ability to work under pressure.
Participants were given a mystery box of ingredients to incorporate into their dishes. The participants are judged on concept, technical skills, taste and presentation.
Team members Neil Olverman, Peter Ye, Nthebe Mothibi and Mache Sansovini made up the Hilton Sandton team among five other properties that made it to the finals.
“We are very proud of the success of our team members! The F&B Masters profiles the crème de la crème of Hilton Worldwide’s talent across the region and being finalists is a welcome feather in our cap at Hilton Sandton. This intensive contest encourages team members to push their boundaries and think outside the box on bettering Hilton Worldwide’s food and beverage experience,” says Gert Venter, hotel manager at Hilton Sandton.
The finals were held at Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel & Conference Center, in Instanbul, Turkey on 19 February.
