Fancourt celebrates 21st birthday with luxury getaway special | The Planner

Fancourt exterior 2015Fancourt celebrates its 21st Anniversary this year with a tribute to 21 unique milestones that have contributed to the extraordinary success of the Garden Route’s leading leisure resort.

As one of the country’s industry leaders, Fancourt is not only popular in the international market, but is also a destination of choice among local travelers who make up more than 50% of its guest ratio every year.

21 Special milestones have been identified that were instrumental in the success of Fancourt since leading German businessman and international technology guru Hasso Plattner bought the estate in 1994.

Some of these include opening its third 18-hole golf course, The Links, in 2000 – which has since been ranked among the World’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses (US Golf Digest 2014).
On the hospitality front this was followed by Fancourt entering the luxury boutique hotel market when it opened The Manor House in 2011.

Fancourt is well known for its efforts in assisting disadvantaged communities in the Southern Cape, and over the past 21 years has been consistent in its endeavour to acknowledge and uplift the local community through various successful, long-term community outreach projects. It has set a new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) benchmark for the tourism sector within the Garden Route, through its ‘think local, act global’ approach. Among its ‘21 Acts of Kindness’ for 2015 are the annual George Child & Family Welfare Ladies Tea fundraiser; a monthly Soup Kitchen for families in need; a blanket drive for a local Night Shelter; and ‘Knitting for Charity’, a blanket drive for senior citizens at the Rosemoor Home for the Aged.

As a member of The Leading Hotels of the World, guests are accommodated at two luxury hotels on the 613 hectare property. A quality food and wine experience can be savoured at a choice of three restaurants, Italian-styled La Cantina (voted Best Hotel Restaurant in the Garden Route’s CXPress Awards 2014); Morning Glory restaurant overlooking the greens of the Outeniqua golf course; and sophisticated Henry White’s at the exclusive Manor House Boutique Hotel.

It is an internationally sought-after golfing playground with three Gary Player designed golf courses and arguably some of the best facilities in the world. These include the revamped Club Lounge, a top class Golf Academy and two Pro Shops.

A superb Conference venue and an award-winning Spa complete the globally competitive mix of facilities at the resort, which is conveniently located near glorious beaches and sightseeing attractions.
