For high message retention there are few that would argue about the lighting and staging wizardry in adding significantly to the success of any event, irrespective of capacity or type.
There are two distinct member groups when it comes to the technical aspects of event communications on-site – the one is the Technical Production Services Association (TPSA) representing the free standing equipment installations for once off events. Then there is South African Communications Industry Association (SACIA) representing the fixed equipment suppliers and installers into private/public sector auditoria, boardrooms et al.
With SACIA managing the TPSA affairs since 2014 – the recent and regular breakfast gathering of both associations made for an interesting cross-section of ideas and general imparting of up-to-date information.
Highlights were the CEO providing vital background details on their professional body status and in particular the implemented mediation process with Adv Louis Nel briefing the industry on how the process will be rolled out. EGF’s deputy chairperson Greg McManus outlined the conference sustainability issues and in particular the growing necessity for both all parties to have a formal green policy as end-users (clients) were requesting some form of green identity by their suppliers and services.
Newly-elected TPSA Chairperson Bruce Schwartz outlined the TPSA road ahead with six areas having been identified going forward.
Two issues stood out above the rest of the significant pointers – these were:’ The Reduction in Hazardous Material Waste’ as well as ‘An Energy Reduction Plan of Action’.
Blandford Manor was the venue and a reasonable attendance ended the breakfast session.
