New Durban-based event company celebrates launch | The Planner

The Durban Events Company has been formed and was officially launched at The Greyville Convention Centre in Durban. The Durban Events Company has been formed to specifically promote new events in Durban.

“The intention of the company will be to grow and create large and mid-scale events at The Greyville Convention Centre,” says Alan Vels.
“The interest since last year in the centre hosting sporting events, exhibitions, conventions, weddings and concerts has been incredible and hence the decision to create a separate focus on large scale events that need months and even sometimes years of planning.”

While The Durban Events Company’s aim is to promote The Greyville Convention Centre facilities, it will also be promoting and creating events throughout the City of Durban and is aimed at attracting the bigger shows that often bypass the City. With the recent announcement of the Commonwealth Games to be hosted in Durban and Durban’s aim to be the events capital of the country, the Events Company’s focus will be on bringing new ideas, concepts and shows to the residents of the City.

The company is already in the throes of assisting with the Sportex show, a large interactive sports event at Greyville Convention Centre to be held on 17-18 October 2015 and has six new events lined up until March 2016. With the knowledge and hospitality experience in this newly formed venture, companies from outside of Durban who are wanting to bring events to Durban will be able to be advised on the most cost effective options available in the city, including an array of accommodation and hospitality based services to select from.
