It was revealing to witness the overwhelming positive response to initiating planner standards at the second Event Industry Summit held with a large delegation in early October.
The programme was designed to glean the input via conversations ‘on-the-stage’ from the top MICE venues as well as a second conversation consisting of independent planners and thereafter a third lively discussion from representatives of the corporate end-users.
The outcome going forward indicates the insistence by the corporate personnel/finance directors to lay the groundwork without undue delay. Hence progress is underway with:
- Synopsis of the Summit outcomes
- Website uploading to the Standards of: Framework, Definitions, Duty of Service
- Presentation to the corporate market by the end of October
- Initial minimum standards to be rolled-out by early 2016
Although the Academy are the catalyst – it is intended that both the trade associations as well as the appropriate public sector entity will be informed on an ongoing basis.
