Arthur, Kelly Khumalo, Chomee, Shimza, Busiswa, DBN Nyts, Dr Malinga, Brickz, CICI, Ishmael, DJ AJ, Kwesta and many other South African artists will be coming to Soweto this weekend to unleash the fun at Dorothy Nyembe Park. Entrance is free of charge so long as you bring your favourite beverages in cans – no bottles will be allowed.
The CAN DO! Summer Tour is getting ready to entertain and thrill partygoers in Soweto, Daveyton and Tembisa, and judging by the success of the previous three years, this is yet again one not to be missed.
CAN DO!, Nampak Bevcan‘s consumer facing brand, has once again partnered with some of the country’s hottest musicians and freshest DJs to host a series of free ‘cans only’ concerts. Sowetans will be first in line to attend the launch event which takes place from 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday, 25 October 2015 at Dorothy Nyembe Park in Soweto. It promises to be a full programme of exceptional talent.
“Looking back at the last two years, we know these concerts are very popular and each year it just gets better so we are excited to see what happens on the 2015 tour,” says Arthur Mafokate, South Africa’s kwaito king.
Alexandra Bouwer, marketing manager for Nampak Bevcan’s CAN DO! brand, says that the promotion of cans is the main objective of the event. “This will be a ‘cans only’ event, meaning guests may not bring any bottles into the venue.
“Come with your picnic blankets, picnic baskets and cooler boxes and spend the day outdoors enjoying top entertainment in a safe environment. Unleash the fun with your favourite canned beverage in hand,” says Bouwer.
According to Bouwer, cans are the safest way for concertgoers to enjoy their own beverages at big outdoor events; not only are they environmentally friendly (with over 72% of cans being recycled), they are also easier to transport and much safer than bottles, which can break and cause severe damage.
The CAN DO! Summer Tour includes a concert at Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton on 29 November 2015, and another at Mehlabeng Stadium in Tembisa on 16 December 2015.
