At a SITE Crystal Awards luncheon held in New Delhi, India on 24 October, the Australian-based IGA International Retailer Tour, operated by Dragonfly Africa, was chosen as a 2015 Worldwide Site Crystal Award winner in the category “Excellence in Incentive Travel – Africa/Middle East”. Dragonfly Africa worked hand-in-hand with Directions Conference & Incentive Management Australia to produce this award-winning programme.
The SITE Crystal Awards are known as the “Oscars” of the incentive travel industry and serve to honour top professionals and programmes that recognize the power of connecting motivational experiences to solid business results. As the business climate and traditional “way of doing business” have evolved over the past years, so have the criteria and standards for motivational events.
This accolade is very special to us for a number of reasons:
To start with, this is the first time a programme, operated in East Africa has won a SITE Crystal Award. It is rather poignant, considering the huge challenges this special region of Africa has had to face in the past few years. This award reinforces our belief that the East African countries – Tanzania, including Zanzibar, and Rwanda are finally being recognized as true stand-alone incentive destinations. We would like to add that this would not have been possible without the extraordinary support of all the local suppliers – hotels, charter companies, transport providers, guides and the general staff who welcomed the delegates with wide smiles wherever they travelled.
It is also their third consecutive SITE Crystal Award win, a great achievement in itself, thanks to a dedicated and inspirational team. It is however more than just a win for the Dragonfly Africa Group, but a win for the whole region. To consistently produce award-winning events, as we have shown is possible, requires the whole MICE industry in Southern and East Africa to collectively deliver world-class service.
