UFI LOC APPOINTS UFI NGL Grant Recipient | The Planner

The UFI LOC (The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry) under the leadership of incoming UFI President Craig Newman have announced the appointment of  UFI NGL Recipient Neo Mohlatlole’s company Seven Colors Communications to be the PR and Sponsorship service provider for the 84th UFI Global Congress. The global congress will be held for the first time in Sub-Saharan Africa from the 01st to the 04th of November 2017 at Sandton Convention Centre.

The Billion Dollar Exhibition industry will be hosting their 84th Global Congress in South Africa as part of their rotation amongst regional partners.  The 2016 leg was held in Shanghai, China and attracted over 600 Industry leaders and major players in the exhibition industry. This brings a lot of opportunity for local concept holders, venues, convention bureaus and exhibition industry service providers on the African continent. As Africa has been earmarked as one of the future growth regions.

The Congress couldn’t have come at a better time in the industry. LOC Chairperson Craig Newman who is also the CEO of the Johannesburg Expo Centre has just been announced as the Incoming President for the International association, the closing of the congress will mark the beginning of his tenure as Incoming President. The association normally runs with three presidents to have consistency in leadership and direction. Hence, the UFI Presidential Trio for the 2017-18 term will comprise:

  • Corrado Peraboni (Fiera Milano, Italy) President 2017-2018,
  • Craig Newman (Johannesburg Expo Centre, South Africa), Incoming President,
  • Andreas Gruchow (Deutsche Messe AG, Germany), Outgoing President.

Seven Colors Communications is owned by Eugene Mametse and Neo Mohlatlole. Mohlatlole was awarded as a Next Generation Leader by UFI with four other leaders from different parts of the world. UFI selects five members that are excelling in their different roles in the exhibition industry. Mohlatlole is the first recipient from the African continent to receive the grant. The company owns and runs the Stokvelex exhibition and manages a few projects on behalf of other companies. Seven Colors Communications managed the media centre for Tourism Indaba 2017 and are also managing the Small Business Expo and Buy a Business Expo media component. The company has done work in the SADC region most recently in Lesotho and Botswana.
