Sheraton Pretoria celebrates World Food Day with new restaurant menu | The Planner

The Magnolia Restaurant at the Sheraton Pretoria Hotel will celebrate World Food Day in style with the unveiling of the new a ‘la Carte menu – set to dazzle any foodie’s taste buds.

Designed with inspiration executive chef, Alexandre Coupy drew from his international travels, the new menu celebrates cuisines from all over the world with a local flair. All ingredients are locally grown and manufactured.

“With a mix of dishes that celebrates the diversity of the world on the menu, there’s no better time to launch it, than on World Food Day,” he says.

World Food Day was established in 1945 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations and seeks to promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger, as well as highlight the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all. This year the day will be celebrated on 16 October.

“World Food Day provides a wonderful opportunity to highlight the difficulties for the millions of people around the world who do not receive adequate food and nutrition. And we have a responsibility to contribute to this course the best way we know how,” says Coupy.

And to demonstrate the Sheraton Pretoria’s commitment to supporting the course, the hotel assists a non-profit organisation – SA Cares for Life – a facility that cares for abandoned and vulnerable children from birth to 5-years old with soup once a week, as well as a laundry service.

“Every little bit helps, and these efforts mean other donations can be used elsewhere and for the list of other necessities to keep the organisation’s doors open,” Coupy says.
