Following a trying year in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, 3S Media, the organisers of the Women in MICE Awards, have taken a decision to postpone the 2020 instalment of its auspicious event.
“As much as we would like to host the Women in MICE Awards this year, looking at where the industry is currently together with the various restrictions we have in place, the responsible decision is to not go ahead with our event for 2020,” says Shanna Jacobsen, editor of Meetings magazine, part of the 3S Media group.
“As much as we would like to host the Women in MICE Awards this year, looking at where the industry is currently together with the various restrictions we have in place, the responsible decision is to not go ahead with our event for 2020.”
This means that nominations submitted for 2020 will roll over to next year. It also means that, for the Awards process next year, achievements for both this and next year will be considered.
“With where we are in the COVID-19 crisis and the MICE industry being strongly represented by women, we are more committed than ever to bolstering leadership. We have been hosting our monthly Conversations with Women in MICE in partnership with Thami Nkadimeng and supported by the South Africa National Convention Bureau, and the Women in MICE Mentorship Programme in partnership with Queen Ramotsehoa will continue to drive upliftment within the industry,” comments Jacobsen.
“While we are in the throes of the pandemic, we would like to encourage women to keep engaging and to support each other during this time.”
In addition, a Women in MICE LinkedIn group has been created to further grow this community, share experiences, learnings and best practises.
“While we are in the throes of the pandemic, we would like to encourage women to keep engaging and to support each other during this time,” concludes Jacobsen.
