The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA), in partnership with Bidfood, has launched the Opus4business App. This free-to-use tool was designed to help the local tourism and hospitality industry implement the COVID-19 tourism safety protocols.
Through the app, businesses will be able to demonstrate compliance and obtain TBCSA’s Travel Safe – Eat Safe Certification.
The protocols have been highly praised and received the World Travel and Tourism Council’s (WTTC) stamp of approval. Through the app, businesses will be able to demonstrate compliance and obtain TBCSA’s Travel Safe – Eat Safe Certification, which shows the internationally recognized WTTC stamp. It is hoped that, by displaying certification and compliance, businesses will be able to reassure their guests that their safety is being taken care.
Business operators can download the app on tourismsa.opus4business.com and complete the pledge to prove their commitment to operating safely. The basic version is available for free, and includes training and guidelines. The premium version is R95 a month, and offers additional features to help businesses manage COVID-19 health screening for employees, suppliers, delivery agents and customers in full compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act. It can also be used to help with contact tracing, if needed.
“The app is yet another way the industry is demonstrating self-regulation and a readiness to open for domestic and international travel in the country.”
“The app is yet another way the industry is demonstrating self-regulation and a readiness to open for domestic and international travel in the country. We are encouraging businesses to download the app and take their teams through the training, once this is launched at the end of the month, to increase compliance in the industry and to keep staff and customers in the sector safe.” says Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, CEO of TBCSA.
