The Western Cape’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT) announced earlier this week that it had opened applications for the SMME Booster Fund 2021.
The South African government has announced that applications are now open for support from the SMME Booster Fund 2021 are now open.
According to a statement by Finance and Economic Opportunities MEC David Maynier, the fund will “distribute up to R20 million to organisations and municipalities for programmes that focus on supporting small businesses to grow and improve their sustainability so they can create more jobs in the Western Cape”.
“Now, more than ever, we need to work together to ensure businesses are supported and are operating safely and responsibly, so that we can save jobs and rebuild the economy in the Western Cape.”
Through the previous SMME Booster Fund, 16 beneficiaries such as the Innovator Trust and Edge Growth were able to support over 350 businesses in the Western Cape, creating much-needed jobs and enabling them to grow.
“Now, more than ever, we need to work together to ensure businesses are supported and are operating safely and responsibly, so that we can save jobs and rebuild the economy in the Western Cape,” noted David.
How to apply to the SMME Booster Fund 2021:
- The application process entails the completion of the required online information and the uploading of the required supporting documents.
- Only applications submitted via the online process, before the closing date and time, will be considered. No emailed or hand-delivered applications will be considered.
- The online system will automatically close for submission of applications at the closing time and date.
- Thoroughly read the application guidelines before completing the online application. All sections in the application form are mandatory. The application guideline can be downloaded from the Department’s website.
- All documents requested and that are listed in sections 3.1 and 5.1 of the Call for Proposals are compulsory and must be uploaded when submitting your application. Please ensure that all documents submitted are legible. Where uploaded documents are illegible, damaged, or corrupted, the application cannot be considered.
- The Department is unable to notify applicants on the correctness and completeness of the requisite information and documents submitted, nor can it request additional information. The onus is on the applicant to ensure that all the required information and the correct documents are timeously submitted.
The deadline for applications is 00h00 midnight on Monday, 7 June 2021.
