Sisa Ntshona, the current CEO of South African Tourism, has opted to step down from his position at the end of May.
In a media release received late last week by theplanner.guruβs news team, it has been revealed that Sisa Ntshona intends to step down from his position as CEO of South African Tourism (SA Tourism) from the end of May 2021.
βSisa recently approached the Board for an earlier exit as he was presented with a new career opportunity that required him to start much sooner than anticipated,β commented Siyabonga Dube, chairperson of the SA Tourism board.
βI thoroughly enjoyed my time at SA Tourism⦔
Sisaβs five-year contract was due to come to an end on 30 September 2021 and he had previously indicated to the Board that he did not intend to reapply for the position.
βI thoroughly enjoyed my time at SA Tourismβ¦ Iβve met and worked with amazing people in an industry that contributes in so many ways to the financial well-being of South Africans and proud to have played a part in the growth of the industry, notwithstanding the challenges we currently face through the Covid-19,β noted Sisa.
Who will the new CEO be?
SA Tourism has confirmed that the process to appoint a new CEO has been underway for at least three months.
βThe recruitment process to appoint a new CEO began in February this year and over the last few weeks we have interviewed highly respected individuals who we believe can lead the organisation during these challenging times for the industry,β says Siyabonga.
