The name Minor Hotels may leave some with the imagination that it references the opposite of ‘Major’ and it is not linked to a steadily growing international brand. However as far as major goes, across the globe it does not get any better than Minor Hotels. With 530 properties across the world ― 29 of which are in Africa ― the group is built on the core principles of innovation, partnership, and people development.
Since they were founded in 1967, results are driven by a “customer first” mentality. Although the company is continuing to expand by exploring strategic acquisitions, its greatest accomplishment thus far has been spotting and seizing opportunities to reimagine the brand’s offering and being the leading hospitality partner leveraging on stakeholder value.
Celebrating major trade partners
It is no wonder that Minor Hotels Africa would put recognition and rewarding of its trade partners at the very top of its priority list. Hence on the 09th February 2023 Minor Hotels Africa held its inaugural Partner Appreciation Awards for all its travel and trade partners. The event that saw a full turnout, could only be characterised as a memorable and meaningful event for both Minor Hotels Africa and its trade partners in attendance, with operatic music forming part of the entertainment in a conducive networking environment.

Lindi Mthethwa, Regional Director for Sales and Marketing at Minor Hotels Africa said, “We are feeling rather positive and optimistic going into 2023, we have not only seen an increase in Quarter 1 2023 vs Quarter 1 2022 at most of our properties overall, we have also seen an increase in both leisure and business enquiries. There’s been a huge demand for our Southern African destinations in recent times, and even more so now that people are looking for once-in-a-lifetime experiences, this shift has been brought on by aggressive marketing strategies and intentional collaborations with our trade partners.
“We managed to meet our target at most of our Southern African properties during 2022 and even saw surprisingly good visitor numbers during the festive period, and this would have not been possible without our trade partners. We thank them all for having been such a wonderful catalyst to our success in 2022… it is because of their trust and support that we have been able to achieve those tough targets.”
