Flight Centre advises SAA passengers to take proactive steps

In light of the strike action by South African Airways (SAA) pilots that commenced on Thursday, December 5, Flight Centre Travel Group has advised passengers to take proactive steps.

The strike will affect all SAA-operated flights on major domestic and regional routes, including:

  • Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Cape Town (CPT)
  • Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Durban (DUR)
  • Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Port Elizabeth (PLZ)
  • Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Windhoek (WDH)
  • Johannesburg (JNB) to/from Mauritius (MRU)

Partner airlines, including codeshare flights and Star Alliance partner services, will operate as scheduled.

As travel begins ramping up for the festive season, airports are expected to be busier than usual, more so as passengers seek alternatives. Travellers are advised to prepare for queues and disruptions by arriving earlier than usual, building in as much time and flexibility in their planning as possible. Those booked on SAA flights should contact their travel representative or the airline directly for updates and rebooking options.

โ€œFlight Centre understands the inconvenience and uncertainty caused by the SAA strike, particularly during this critical travel period,โ€ said Euan McNeil, Flight Centre South Africa MD. โ€œWe are fully focused on helping our customers navigate this situation and will continue to provide regular updates as new information becomes available.โ€
