The Sandton Convention Centre has won Best Corporate Conference Venue (over 500 pax) in the prestigious Business Traveller Africa (BTA) Awards for the third consecutive year.
The Business Travel Awards were launched in 2012 in recognition of the brands or entities that excel in the areas of overall experience and service offering to the business travel industry, which is responsible for a large portion of the continent’s travel spend. The Business Travel Awards are presented by the Institute of Travel and Meetings Southern Africa (ITMSA) in conjunction with TNS, South Africa’s largest customised market research agency. The awards recognise excellence in the 20 categories, including hotels, venues, airlines, TMCs, car rentals and forex.
Sandton Convention Centre’s Executive Director, Dr Mati Nyazema, acknowledges the value of the award to the SCC. “We see this award as a real tribute to the hard work we put in to ensure that we achieve and maintain the highest standards in service excellence throughout our facilities. We have established a world-class venue and it is gratifying to have these efforts recognised by this valuable sector of the business tourism industry.”
Sandton Convention Centre’s parent company Tsogo Sun was once again the proud recipient of the Best South African Hotel Group category. Adds Nyazema, “The acknowledgement of the entire Tsogo Sun group at these awards demonstrates the ethos of quality that is maintained throughout the properties. These awards are good for the business and they encourage our committed and hard-working people to continue to strive to go the extra mile. After all, surpassing expectations is what Tsogo Sun, and with it, Sandton Convention Centre, is all about.”
Though only in their third year, the BTA Awards is rapidly finding a niche as an awards event that acknowledges the industry’s top performers.
