Delegates are rapidly becoming fussy listeners | The Planner

Speaking at CONVENE in Vilnius, Lithuania erudite Rob Davidson a well-known industry analyst has hit the nail on the head with his well-researched comments that by 2020  almost 75% of the work force will be between 26 and 43. This generation is known as Generation Y and as far as conference/congresses are concerned, neither boring speakers nor the inability to interact with the presenters will be tolerated.

The MICE Academy is not certain whether the average delegate even today is willing to sit-through a presentation in which the speaker is unable to put his/her message across effectively.  And worse still, if the presenter cannot be questioned on his speech contents, chances are the delegation are more than likely to resort to their various technical wizardry for relief or worse still delegates may doze-off.

American delegations are known to arrive and leave congress halls at any kind of whim and fancy yet usually the average delegate is too polite to get up and go enmasse.

With time needing to be productively used and not wasted on presenters that just don’t make the grade, organisers better ensure their presenters are up to the task of fussy audiences or face the consequences very soon,
