Tsogo Sun’s palatial Palazzo Hotel at Montecasino is celebrating its 15th anniversary with another top award – it has been voted the best luxury casino hotel on the African continent in the coveted World Luxury Hotel and Spa Awards for the sixth consecutive year.
The World Luxury Hotel Awards are accepted as the pinnacle of achievement for luxury hotels and spas worldwide. They were established in 2007 as a celebration of ultimate achievement in service excellence, recognising and rewarding hotels that have excelled beyond the normal standards of quality and service. The winners are selected from votes cast by guests, tour operators and independent travel consultants globally. For the winners, these awards signify excellence, while for travellers they provide assurance of top class quality and exceptional experiences.
Palazzo GM, Robert Jasper, is delighted and proud to once again achieve this prestigious acknowledgment. “Everything we do at the Palazzo is designed to provide the best possible experience we can deliver for our guests – whether it is greeting them on arrival or undergoing a comprehensive refurbishment. We offer what we term ‘the velvet touch’ to guests, maintaining ultra-high standards of exquisite elegance and opulence that have seen our reputation for excellence grow significantly over the years since the hotel opened in November 2000,” he says.
The refurbishment of the hotel, which represented a R60 million investment by Tsogo Sun, included a refreshing of the entire guest experience. “We focused on all the finishes and details that distinguish the hotel for our discerning hotel guests, such as guest amenities, lighting and electronics,” adds Jasper. A new function venue was also built in the garden alongside the colonnade leading through to the Montecasino complex – called Rosa – enabling the hotel to meet growing demand for additional restaurant and function space.
The Palazzo Montecasino offers world-class facilities for leisure and business travellers, including a variety of tastefully decorated rooms that vary from the palatial 600m2 Penthouse to the Presidential suite to luxurious suites, executive, deluxe and superior rooms, catering for all tastes and travel requirements.
Jasper gives credit to the 180 staff for the award. “Our people are the most remarkable aspect of the hotel. They are extremely engaging and guests leave here with memories they treasure. From the porters who notice the reason why a guest is staying at the hotel and feed it into the system, to our concierge desk and the Guest Relations staff who are responsible for delivering the special touches that create memories, it’s our people who have cemented the Palazzo’s reputation as a special occasion hotel.”
