Premier Hotels acquires SA Icon | The Planner

Pretoria-Suite-4As one of South Africa’s fastest growing independently owned hotel groups, Premier Hotels and Resorts continues to increase their footprint in Kwa-Zulu Natal, adding to its existing number of properties. Samuel Nassimov, Managing Director of Premier Hotels and Resorts (PTY) LTD and N.V Properties (PTY) LTD, announced the Group’s second acquisition of 2016, the Bayshore Inn.

The Bayshore Inn was formerly owned by HPF, marketed by Protea Hotels and managed by Extra Bold. Located adjacent to Premier Hotel The Richards, this is the first of the Group’s new three-star“Splendid Inn” branded properties, as Premier Hotels and Resorts embark on a landmark anniversary year of acquisitions, refurbishments and brand expansion.

“We were first introduced to this hotel two years ago when we started exploring the opportunity presented by the acquisition of The Richards Hotel,” says Nassimov. “With the strength of our loyalty programme and the business market need in the region, we see great potential for these properties, especially within the conferencing and corporate sectors.” continues Nassimov.

Splendid Inn Bayshore offers comfortable three-star full service accommodation, a restaurant and conference facilities. The company plans to enhance it to Premier Hotels and Resorts standards with planned improvements to the Hotel and conference facilities.

“This year marks Premier Hotels and Resorts’ 25th Anniversary. While this is definitely a milestone for the brand, the truly exciting part is, we’re just getting started. Our portfolio has more than doubled in only four years and the acquisition of the Bayshore Inn is another step towards our goal. We are very excited to have the opportunity to add our first Splendid Inn to the portfolio and continue to offer the Premier levels of service our guests have become accustomed to over the last 25 years.” Nassimov concludes.

Nassimov, who founded Premier Hotels and Resorts 25 years ago, started with humble beginnings, by purchasing a 40 bedroom hotel in East London in the Eastern Cape. Today, the company’s portfolio has grown to encompass 16 hotels and resorts throughout South Africa’s top holiday and business destinations, that offers almost 2000 bedrooms and provides employment to 1500 passionate staff members, as well as the ELICC (East London International Convention Centre), which also forms part of Premier Hotels and Resorts and received the award for Best Congress and Convention Centre Africa, in 2011.
