Global launch of the Westin Well-being Movement | The Planner

Working well, particularly when travelling on business, means being able to eat well, sleep well, move well, play well and feel well.

Easier said than done many would say. But, it is something that is achievable if your chosen travel destination is Cape Town and your hotel the Westin Cape Town Hotel. The hotel has embraced the international Well-Being Movement, which is to become a guest offering at all Westin Hotels worldwide.

The Westin Cape Town in partnership with Headspace will be opening its doors to the public as part of a Global launch of the Westin Well-being Movement, a campaign designed to enhance the well-being of guests and associates around the world. This launch will usher in a new emphasis on well-being that has been a focus of the Westin, a drive that has differentiated the luxury venue from others in one of the most desirable and beautiful cities in the world.

“The Westin has always been proud of the fact that we have recognised that the well- being of our guests’ means assisting them to follow personal fitness programmes- regimes they may wish to follow while they travel. We have recognised that accomplishing what is required during a punishing business schedule can only be achieved if your hotel of choice shares your drive towards excellence and supports your lifestyle. In other words, your hotel must be geared to helping you, eat well, sleep well, move well, play well and feel well so that you can work well,” says Rob Kucera general manager of the Westin Cape Town.

To support the activation of the Westin Wellbeing Movement, the brand will unveil a new well-being digital hub – an online portal that will serve as a catalyst for a global exchange of new ideas and interpretations of well-being every day and bring the movement’s programming, council and new initiatives to life.

The foundation of the movement is the Westin Well-being Council – a diverse advisory board composed of renowned thought leaders, each of whom aligns with a specific wellness brand pillar. These figures will guide and inspire the movement’s initiatives, leveraging proprietary research and initiating programs to inform and inspire well-being before, during and after a guest’s stay.

“We began making the difference with the unique ‘Gear Lending’ programme, which enabled guests to access the sports equipment and shoes they needed for in-hotel gym sessions, walking or jogging so they could enjoy the benefits of exercise whilst staying over for business. This was supported by Superfoods, Heavenly beds and Heavenly showers especially developed to ensure that our guests could eat, sleep, feel, play and exercise optimally in the time available to them.”

“We are excited that today the Westin will literally be stepping up its game by ushering in the Westin Well-Being Movement that will reinforce our commitment to the well-being of our guests and enable them to continue to benefit from the renowned Westin global brand’s ‘six pillars of well-being,” says Kucera.

To create awareness about the Westin Well Being Movement and open doors to the world of well-being for guests who are familiar or new to the balanced lifestyle options supported by the Westin, several key events will be launched today at the Westin Executive Club Lounge.

“The well-being of our guests is an objective that has been central to our value-added operations. With our renewed and increased focus on guest comfort and health, which will be led by a global Well-Being Council, we are entering an exciting phase of hotel-supported lifestyle programmes.

“The focus, as always, is on enhancing our guests’ Westin experience, something that is central to our brand, and to make sure that our guests leave feeling better than when they arrived” concludes Kucera.
