The Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, will play host to the Intra African Trade Fair 2021 between 15-21 November.
As industries navigate the challenges of conducting business in a pandemic era, we are beginning to see evidence of an economic recovery.
One event that hopes to bring about greater opportunities for African trade and industry is the Intra African Trade Fair 2021 (IATF 2021), in which 80 South African companies are expected to participate.
โThe trade fair will offer us an opportunity to profile and market proudly South African goods and services, build lasting networks and establish collaborations that will increase South Africaโs goods and services exports into the continent and position South Africa as the partner of choice. It will further highlight the best of South African local manufacturing capability in the agriculture and agro-processing; automotive; construction and infrastructure development; consumer goods; energy and power; engineering; footwear; leather and textiles; heavy Industries and light manufacturing; health care and pharmaceuticals; information and communication technology and innovation; logistics; and mining sectors,โ commented Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Nomalungelo Gina, in an official statement issued by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition.
An event of note
It is hoped that the IATF 2021 will provide a platform for South African businesses to access a market of 1.2 billion people with a combined GDP of over US$2.5 trillion under the AfCFTA.
โIATF is the key event boosting trade in Africa. No other event brings together more professionals under one roof. In 2021, IATFโs theme will focus on the newly-launched African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) โ a single market for goods and services across 55 countries, aimed at boosting trade and investment,โ according to the official event website.
For delegates who are not able to attend IATF 2021 in-person, organisers IATF Virtual is ideal as it brings together attendees and exhibitors and allows them to connect in real-time during the event, as well as keep in touch thereafter.
The event is being promoted by Afreximbank in collaboration with the AfCFTA Secretariat and will be co-hosted by the Republic of South Africa and KZN Provincial governments.
