MICE Industry investigates venues ‘Fit for Purpose’ | The Planner

Of the 3500 MICE venues with and without accommodation and of varying shapes and sizes in SA – more than 2000 are in Gauteng. However there are just 150 that are tourism graded less than 5%. The reasons for this low percentage are varied. But the national MESE tourism grading system provides the MICE graded venues with the opportunity to market their facilities and add-on services.

MICE buyers in their varied designations and guises are unique, with equally individual MICE venue requirements, dependent on the type of project at the time.

Different types of event programmes require different types of MICE venue requirements.

The MICE industry are undertaking research in which MICE venues can be assessed to their best usage dependent on the type of booking.

The Fit for Purpose programme will list all the positives such as: effective ceiling height for staging productions, parking and accommodation distances from the actual MICE gathering, various pre-assemblies and conducive outdoor facilities and activities.

Further updates will be provided as these develop.
