Protea Hotel Upington begins the second phase of its refurbishment on Monday, July 8, 2013.
This phase of the refurbishment will see extensive remodelling of the River Rooms, which is separate from the main hotel and will therefore be shut down entirely so that the work can proceed as quickly as possible.
The work on these rooms will entail new bathrooms, new bedroom softs, new bedroom furniture, Juliet balconies overlooking the Orange River and passage upgrades.
The refurbishment is scheduled for eight weeks and the disruption to other GUESTS and conference-goers in the hotel will be minimal because the River Rooms are separate.
Late last year the hotel completed its mammoth first phase of its renovation. New facilities added in that phase were 29 new rooms (bringing the total number of rooms to 90), a new restaurant that allows for indoor and outdoor dining, a gym and an extensive conference centre, which has seen back-to-back booking for both conferences and social events in the Northern Cape Town.
