On September 21, the Johannesburg Expo Centre was once again recognised as the Best Exhibition and Events Venue in Sub-Saharan Africa at the PMR.africa Awards 2018, which seek to recognise excellence across various sectors and industries.
The JEC received the prestigious PMR Diamond Award once again after having been recognised in 2007, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2016 and again in 2017 in the same category. It was awarded with the Golden Arrow Award in 2014.
Speaking on the award, was Craig Newman, CEO of the JEC: βBeing recognised once again at the PMR.africa Awards is a testament to how we at the Johannesburg Expo Centre are continuing to deliver a world-class service at a world-class venue and we could not be prouder of this achievement.β
PMR.africa conducted its annual national survey on Event and Exhibition Venues in South Africa and rated these venues on a wide range of attributes, namely:
- Access to event/exhibition facilities if/when required
- Catering (quality in relation to cost)
- Cleanliness and preparedness of event/exhibition space prior to build-up
- Competitive rates/value for money/cost per sq. metre
- Environmentally friendly buildings and structures
- Facilities for disabled persons
- Flexibility in terms of layout required
- Go-the-extra-mile
- Hours of access to loading bays
- Off-loading facilities and building access for exhibitors/contractors
- On-site office facilities for organiser/s
- Parking facilities for exhibition visitors
- Reputation of venue (i.e. perception of the companyβs brand; integrity; CSI)
- Security
- Sound system
- Staff (helpful and friendly)
- Venue infrastructure
