Crowne Plaza rebrands as Southern Sun Rosebank | The Planner

From 1 February 2020, Tsogo Sun Hotels’ property Crowne Plaza will be rebranded as Southern Sun Rosebank. The rebrand will be accompanied by a full refurbishment of the venue.

Ravi Nadasen, Tsogo Sun Hotels’ COO, says, “Rosebank is booming. The opening of the Gautrain station in 2011 spurred growth into the precinct, making it a favoured destination of investors and residents with its vibrant mixed-use commercial, retail, entertainment and residential offerings.

“The Southern Sun brand has enormous equity that has been built over five decades and this development will allow us to expand our footprint into the Rosebank node, where we already own and operate the luxurious 54 on Bath.”

The first phase of the refurbishment will be completed this month, which will see the reception and lobby areas revamped, as well as the Circle Bar and the Fresh Restaurant. Additionally, The Grill Jichana will be opened, based on the highly acclaimed restaurant of the same name at Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani.

The refurbishment of the rest of the hotel, including its 318 rooms, will take place over the course of 2020/21.

“This property provides us with the perfect opportunity to take this full-service brand into Rosebank, which has great potential for business tourism, taking the property and lifestyle profile of the area into account,” adds Nadasen.
