This year, Decorex Durban has adopted the theme ‘Lifestyle by Design’ which essentially encourages everyone to take creative charge of their home decorating and adopt any of their favourite design trends or elements without feeling that they need to conform to just one style; “You don’t have to stick rigidly to crafting an entire space in Scandinavian-inspired designs or keep to the barest of minimalism.”
You’ll be able to get inspired at the show, running from 19-22 March 2020 at the Durban Exhibition Centre, where the work of leading decorators, designers and manufacturers will be on display.
We are living in a hyper visual age, where ‘Instagramability’ has become a factor of design. Aligned with this trend, Decorex is excited to introduce Insta-Interiors, a new feature area that promises a feast for your eyes that will pinpoint global trends for 2020. These trends include New Nordic, Afro/Tribal Meets European, Modern Chinoiserie, Contemporary Organic or Neon, and will be showcased in roomsets. Decorex says, “Each room will reflect the lifestyle of a Durbanite through the use of popular trends which will be conceptualised by a different designer alongside a local influencer.”
The Urban Living by Design stand, also referred to as the ‘Trend House’, will return to Decorex Durban, led by furniture and interior design brand Mobelli and conceived by Decorex Durban’s very own Creative Director Anita Bloom. This stand promises to take visitors on a journey through a series of home spaces that reflect Durban’s unique lifestyle as well as the show’s theme. It also promises to demonstrate design ideas that can be easily replicated or modified to suit different people and living spaces.
Another exciting feature will be the exclusive Design Pavilion inspired by Parisian show Maison & Objet. It will showcase local design disciplines from home décor, interior design, architecture, and lifestyle culture and trends. Local designers will bring their interpretation of the theme ‘Lifestyle by Design’ to life at this exhibit.
