Continuing the tradition of taking home numerous accolades in the annual TripAdvisor Excellence and Travellers’ Choice Awards, Protea Hotels and African Pride Hotels have proven yet again that their offering is world-class.
Some 25 properties were honoured with a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, and three with Travellers’ Choice Awards. Both award groups are given only to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveller reviews on TripAdvisor.
In keeping with TripAdvisor’s history and identity as a user-driven travel review website, these awards are determined based on the opinions and reviews of millions of travelers worldwide.
The Travellers’ Choice awards recognise exceptional service first and foremost. The Certificate of Excellence awards recognise select accommodations, attractions, and restaurants that consistently demonstrate a commitment to hospitality excellence. To be given a Certificate of Excellence, a hotel must maintain an overall traveller rating of at least four out of five.
Protea Hotels Head of Online Distribution Clinton Arnot says the fact that the awards are user-driven shows that they recognise the most important factor in hospitality: guest service at the property level.
“The staff that work in these hotels on a day-to-day basis are the true winners of the awards. The hotels honoured by TripAdvisor have excelled in living up to the group’s service ethos, which is to exceed guest expectations.”
Arnot says these awards are becoming more and more important in terms of benchmarking standards, because the vast majority of modern travellers searches for travel and accommodation information online.
“Nobody can buy a good TripAdvisor rating; it’s entirely traveller-driven, which means it’s trusted by other travellers. These are certainly some of the most important awards we’ll win this year.”
