The Maslow’s upmarket Lacuna Bistro

The Maslow’s upmarket Lacuna Bistro is on trend with its new selection of meal options for dedicated Banting followers. The Banting meal of the day changes daily and followers of this low-carb, gluten free, high fat eating trend can speak to their server to find out what is available.

Banting enthusiasts can rest assured that their meals will be as tasty as they are Banting-compliant. Food and Beverage Manager, Patrick Fisher has researched Banting eating concepts extensively to come up with tantalizing choices that will satisfy customers’ tastes and needs.

As always, he uses only the freshest, locally-sourced, quality ingredients, incorporating herbs grown in his herb garden on The Maslow’s rooftop.

The Banting eating trend has gathered an enormous traction with one of South Africa’s foremost sports scientists now a proponent of low carb, high fat eating. As the success of the diet hinges on followers’ sticking to it religiously, we have experienced a growing demand for Banting-compliant offerings. People want choices when dining-out, and they want to know that those choices are not going to affect their compliance with the diet.

“Our Banting dishes allow customers to enjoy a tasty meal without worrying if they are breaking their diet,” says Fisher.

The Banting meal options include:

Chicken Ballontine, a succulent chicken fillet rolled in Parma ham, stuffed with feta and served with a creamy, pepper sauce.

Aubergine Cannelloni, sumptuous Aubergine wrapped around cream cheese, pine kernels, smoked salmon and grilled courgette, ferned on wilted spinach, and topped with red pepper chutney.

Saldhana Mussels in saffron, white wine, citrus and fennel.

Tarragon, basil and butter poached fillet of Kingklip served with seasonal vegetables.

For dessert, there are two choices; Banana panna cotta with white chocolate, and tangerine and almond cake.
