The Wedding Expo, part of The Wedding Group, is recognised nationally as the best known and most prestigious bridal show in South Africa.
From inception in 2002 with one show per year, the event has grown to two shows annually and now regularly hosts up to 300 premier bridal suppliers each time, making it the largest bridal fair in southern Africa. Visitor numbers have grown with the show and it now attracts up to 15 000 people from all over South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia and even Kenya.
The Wedding Expo covers all areas of the bridal industry, making it a comprehensive resource for brides and grooms. The show allows couples to experience first-hand the products and services available from suppliers in Gauteng and indeed, South Africa.
In order to encourage couples to use the show as a one-stop-shop for planning, The Wedding Expo invests extensive financial resources in marketing the event and ensuring it is a convenient resource for time-strapped brides and grooms. The message is always that bridal shows are simply the most efficient way for them to shop.
In this regard, The Wedding Expo’s marketing and PR team works throughout the year researching trends to promote the show and the wedding industry at large in feature articles and online platforms. In 2013, The Wedding Expo received R30 million in media coverage and 30 000 visitors.
