Sanbona Explorer Camp special for SA residents | The Planner

South African residents can now take advantage of the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve’s Explorer Camp re-opening special.

Explorer Camp offers guided walking wilderness tours for travelers who want an on-foot adventure within Sanbona, the Western-Cape’s premier wildlife destination covering 58 000 hectares of protected territory.

Daily walks through the reserve allow guests to appreciate the indigenous flora and fauna up close, as well as the possibility of a Big 5 encounter.

The tours are offered on an exclusive-use basis to a small group of up to six guests (16-years and older) and include a two-night stay (Friday to Sunday) in a tented riverbed bush camp. Daily walks through the reserve allow guests to appreciate the indigenous flora and fauna up close, as well as the possibility of a Big 5 encounter.

An experienced guide leads the tours, and will share their in-depth knowledge about the wildlife, culture and natural history of the area. Distances walked each day vary and can last up to four hours, while a game viewing vehicle is available to reach trails further afield.

The camp is off the grid but comes with an outdoor bathroom with hot showers under a tree. Three double tents with comfortable beds, an open-air lounge and a dining area under canvas complete the camp. Evenings are spent around the campfire, enjoying wholesome South African dishes prepared on an open fire under the starry Karoo skies.

Sanbona is in the Klein Karoo, a scenic three-hour drive from Cape Town along Route 62. The Explorer Camp operates seasonally, from October to April.

South African residents can now enjoy the Sanbona Explorer Camp from R4000 per person sharing per night, including all meals, twice daily activities and house beverages. Minimum stay 2 nights. Valid until 30 April 2021.
