Spier Wine Farm is hosting a number of family-friendly events this festive season.
1. Jazz up your Christmas lunch
Skip slaving away in the kitchen this Christmas, and instead treat the family to a festive buffet. Gentle jazz music, supervised entertainment for the kids, and a sumptuous menu are all on offer at Spier.
The menu includes with gourmet salads, fresh farm bread and gazpacho for starters; a carvery with roast beef, a chicken supreme, smoked pork belly and Mediterranean-style fish alongside sublime sides such as aubergine and coconut curry and toasted almond-topped root vegetables; and a dessert table with red velvet swiss roll, Christmas pudding cupcakes, chocolate tarts and more

2. Eat alfresco on the lawns
For something a little different, you can opt for a Christmas picnic basket and enjoy your festivities under the trees – exclusively available on Christmas Day.
Your basket will include delicious morsels such as smoked salmon trout, gammon terrine, a grain salad featuring Christmas spices, pickled cranberry and confit duck, mince pies and decadent chocolate trifle.

3. Travel the world one bite at a time
Vadas Smokehouse & Bakery is offering a globally-inspired Christmas set menu on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Here’s a taste of some of what to expect:
Starters: trout gravlax with pickled beets, mushroom arancini with aioli, Malay-spiced chicken wings and jalapeno stuffed with cheese and brisket, wrapped in bacon.
Mains: roast pork belly, smoked chicken with pork sage and apricot stuffing, and the red pepper Panzanella salad with Belnori goat cheese.
Deserts: honey fudge, mince pies, strawberry méringue pie and Vadas’s famous pasteis de nata.
A specially-adapted vegetarian menu is also available.

4. Buffet and boogie the New Year in
The whole family can enjoy welcoming in 2020 at Spier Wine Farm. A delicious buffet will satisfy everyone’s palate, while a live band – The Rockets – will set the mood and the kids can enjoy the supervised entertainment.
On the menu, you can expect farm-inspired canapés, followed smoked Franschhoek trout, a build-your-own salad and creamy seafood bisque starters; Karoo lamb on the spit, herb-crusted venison, bacon-wrapped pork fillet and fish in lemon and garlic butter for the mains; and chocolate gateaux cakes, macaron croquembouche, key lime tart and tiramisu for dessert. A kid-friendly buffet will be available for the younger guests.
This is a night for the whole family — so bring the kids! While you tear it up on the dancefloor as live band, The Rockets perform, they’ll be able to enjoy specially supervised entertainment and a buffet meal of their own.
